Eligibility
You need a first class BE, BTech or 4-year BSc Engineering from an AICTE-approved college in Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Electronics and Telecommunication, Communication, Telecommunication or Mechanical. First class AMIE, AMIETE or GIETE in these disciplines also qualifies. SC, ST and PwBD candidates need a pass class. Other equivalent disciplines and dual specialisations are not considered.
The age limit is 25 on 1 October 2026, relaxed by 5 years for SC and ST, 3 for OBC (NCL), 10 for PwBD, and 5 for ex-servicemen. Colour-blind candidates are not suitable.
Fee and selection
The fee is Rs. 1,000 plus GST, which comes to Rs. 1,180. Most of the notice exempts SC, ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen, but its online instructions also list EWS as exempt, while page 5 and its FAQ say EWS must pay. Check the fee step on the portal.
The computer test has 125 questions in 120 minutes (100 technical, 25 aptitude and reasoning), with one-fourth negative marking, and is tentatively on 22 December 2026. The test carries 85 marks and the interview 15. You need 35% in each, or 30% for SC, ST and PwBD. Interview shortlisting is 1:5.
Selected engineers complete 6 months of training and sign a 2-year service agreement with a Rs. 2,00,000 bond.
